I remember plopping in quarter after quarter playing Track and Field. I also remember buying my first Nintendo and getting so hooked on Super Tecmo Bowl that I never left the house. Here I go again saying my age! But Nintendo old school is back and now online and free.
www.nintendo8.com is all you need to know to get hours and hours of online video game fun. Nintendo online brings you the same classics that you got hooked on almost two decades ago. The games are simple and instead of playing with a controller you just use the arrows keys and x and z for the A and B buttons. It’s not difficult at all. In fact, just hold down the right arrow key while pushing the up and down arrows to go diagonal on a game like Super Tecmo Bowl.
The games are divided into action, adventure, arcade, flight, japanese, platform, puzzle, racing, rpg, shootemup, sports and strategy. I can’t even begin to list the games available for free online play. There are just too many. But here are some of my old favorites. Of course, there is Super Tecmo Bowl, Arch Rivals, Tecmo Soccer and more. There are also the old favorites like Donkey Kong, Jr., 1942, Metal Gear and Contra. This is the era where video games began to advance to a different level.
I remember vividly playing Ikari Warriors when I was about 16. I must have spent hundreds of dollars trying to get to the next level. These games are at a different level of addiction because of the simplicity in nature compared to modern era games. Where as some game makers are more concerned about fancy graphics in the ever evolving new world of on-line gaming and console gaming, the Nintendo guys seemed to more concerned about playability. These games are outrageously addictive and fun.
The only problem I have with the website is the fact that you can not make your games full screen. But that is a little price to pay for bringing back the oldies that some of us enjoyed as youths at an arcade.
